By Leslie O'Donnell

Recent work by long-time Lincoln County artist James Frankfort is featured In the current exhibit at Triad Gallery in Seal Rock.
Frankfort is exhibiting drawings, paintings, sculpture and constructions, in a still-changing palette that the artist said Is his brightest yet.
Although Frankfort has been a practicing artist for much of his life, the Triad show is his first in a commercial gallery. His previous shows, including his May solo exhibit at the Upstairs Gallery of the Newport Visual Arts Center, have been at public spaces and cooperative galleries.
"Before, i've always had to hang the show, do the brochures, etc.," he said. "This time, I've been relieved of all that."

In 1993, Frankfort organized the "10/10" exhibit of local independent artists at the Newport Visual Arts Center, an exhibit he described as focusing on the work of those involved in the conceptual arts. He also organized and exhibited in the CRAP - Coastal Art Recycling Project show in the Studio Theatre of the Newport Performing Arts Center, which presented the work of four artists who use recycled Items in their constructions.
In recent years, Frankfort has exhibited his work locally more frequently, and last year, he had two shows. 'I'd like to show my work all the time, and change the exhibit as I go along," he said,
Frankfort, who works in a variety of media in his Alsea River Highway studio, describes his new work as focusing on both flat abstractions and more geometrical pieces,
"This Is an accumulation of a lifetime's work," he said of the current show.
